Lenovo S580 Smartphone Review

Design:

At the front you can see a 5 inch HD IPS display that offers you a maximum resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It is nice for watching movies and playing games. Image quality is also good here. 5 inch screen is big enough to surf, chat, and read text. Also the touch is smooth enough to do various task. But here I found the screen quiet reflective. This is the part where it falls a bit low. It is a very common thing in many phones. The entire weight of this device is around 129grams which is light and easy to also. Entire body consists of plastic and looks a bit durable also. At the front, with the screen, on the top you can see a 2MP camera. You can take a few decent clicks through this and use it for video chatting also. Also the proximity and ambient light sensor are placed next to that.

At the bottom there are three capacitive buttons. They are menu, home and back. At the sides you can find the power button and the volume keys. This is on the right while the left part is completely empty. At the top you can find the audio jack and micro usb port also. At the backside lies the second 8MP camera. And the back cover is also removable. The camera holds flash and also features autofocus, Speaker is placed at the right side. Back cover is easy to remove and while opening that you can find two sim slots with a memory card slot. The device also has a 2150mAH removable battery.

Camera:

For every budget phone it is not possible to have a very high end camera or give you the best quality sensors. Lenovo S580 is having a quiet nice camera that can let you to take pictures worth sharing. The led flash is capable of adding more lights on the picture. But we had found that the device is capable of taking more and better pictures in day light rather in night. The images get grainier and the led flash is not able to help much. The default camera app is capable of giving you nice amount f images and you can also do adjustment and make things better. You can also take full 720p and 1080p videos through the back camera.

UI:

Lenovo S580 is powered by Android 4.3 Jellybean OS. There is nothing to worry much about Android Kitkat update. Lenovo has promised that in future Lenovo S580 is going to get a new Android 4.4 Kitkat update. Another good part of this phone is that the device will be having an own custom UI. Which will increase your productivity bit more? The UI is simple to use and also makes your navigation lot better. It is good to find that we are having a custom UI where we can do various changes. There are few apps that are provided in the device. It is very easy to customize the home screen. When you hold the same for some time and you get options you need.

You can simply go in the settings and you can make things like you can modify the time, you can make changes in the weather and also you can modify the screen layout you want. There are more options through which you can make changes in the notification centre. The apps look great here. You can add different home screens and you can see common app like Shareit, Syncit and Secureit. This belongs to the Doit package by Lenovo.

Performance:

Lenovo S580 comes with 8GB internal storage. Among which there is 7GB available for usage. This device has a quad core CPU and 1 GB arm which makes it a quit powerful phone. It is capable of running various apps and games with ease. There might a few stocks that will be running in the background but that do not put much pressure on ram. It is possible to set the SD card as the default storage through the app settings. Here the Quad Core Snapdragon 200 CPU is capable of giving you good output. Ram somewhat is around 1GB which might not really fit well with the hardware, but it is quiet enough.

There is an Adreno 302 Gpu that holds the graphic processing. I had played various games on the same which does not lag at any point and works fine. HD games like Asphalt 8, Dead Trigger 2, etc works very well. The device also has all common type of connectivity options.

Battery Life:

Battery life is one of the most important aspects that really matters a lot. If the battery life is not high then there is on point in buying a phone. With new and new Android version the battery life requirement is getting higher and higher. It runs on 2150mAh battery. It is a removable battery and if you optimize the phone for proper usage then you might get more than 12horus of battery life here. This is specialty of Lenovo models. You get the best battery output on them. And if you are having a mixed usage like surfing, multimedia and games then you can expect a battery life of 8+ hours.

Conclusion:

Lenovo S580 is a value for money product. It is not fair to expect much under Rs.10000. This device brings you a quad core CPU where performance wise it is really well. And also you get a nice optimized battery output on the same. This phone will be lot better if it comes loaded with the latest Android Kitkat operating system. Right now on Jellybean OS I do not really think that it is not so great.  I am not happy with the UI. I hope that when it gets upgraded to the latest Android Kitkat operating system you might surely get a lot of new things on it. The device has a good screen quality. It has a decent built material.

Also when it comes to performance you get really smooth output. But there are also some shortcomings that you don’t really like. You get an old version of Android Os on the same and we hope that this phone will get the latest android update as early as possible. Also when it comes to camera the front camera is not so promising. While back gets darker in low light.
