So, guessing the name of Android’s next update (aka Android M) is over. Google officially announced the same as Android Marshmallow. Also, it was rumored to be version 5.2, that was wrong. Android Marshmallow is all new sixth major update, Android v6.0.

Google announced Android M at Google I/O 2015 back in May and since then it was trend for is “M”. But now the “Marshmallow” statue can be clearly seen at Google’s campus in Mountain View. The name has been also confirmed in tweets via officials.

Google today also released Android 6.0 SDK (Developer Preview 3) for compatible Nexus smartphones and tablets (Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 9 & Nexus Player). This is said to be last Preview version before the final RTM release, which will be probably in the fall of 2016. Remember, although you can flash this Preview Images on your devices, but after the final release, you will need to Flash your Nexus devices on Stock ROM to get the Official Android Marshmallow OTA updates. Even the official Google Blog says:

The preview images are near final but they are not intended for consumer use.

As we have already listed most of the new Features of Android Marshmallow earlier, the blog also confirms about the native support of  new Android Pay mobile wallet platform as well as USB Type-C support. There are many more changes done in the Software UI compared to last years Android Lollopop, along with huge number of tweaks and improvements.
