We have been hearing rumors about WhatsApp’s Video calling feature since long time. In fact we also saw a screenshot revealed by a German website showing the feature in action, last year. And now, it seems like WhatsApp has started rolling out video calling feature for few selected group of WhatsApp Beta testers. If you are a Beta user, go ahead and updated your WhatsApp from Play Store to version v2.16.81 and you will find Video call option when you tab the calling button at the top of a chat screen.
As i said, Video calling seems to be only available for few Beta users, although you can see the Video call option in the above image, but there is an error saying ‘Couldn’t place call’. Not sure if WhatsApp will make this feature available for everyone initially. Probably they would roll it out on invite basis as it was done for Voice calling after they launched voice calls in WhatsApp.
