Emma Watson Wins MTV’s First Gender Neutral Award And Piers Morgan Is Triggered

Emma Watson Wins First Gender Neutral MTV Movie Award For Best Actor featureEmma Watson’s political leanings merged once again with her film career on Sunday night as the actress found herself at the center of the latest culture war over gender, feminism and the arts. As the winner of “Best Actor in a Movie” award from the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, Emma kicked off debate over the award’s new gender neutral status with her acceptance speech.

“The first acting award in history that doesn’t separate nominees based on their sex says something about how we perceive the human experience,” Emma said to open her speech.

“MTV’s move to create a genderless award for acting will mean something different to everyone,” she continued. “But to me it indicates that acting is about the ability to put yourself in someone else’s shoes and that doesn’t need to be separated into two different categories.”

Emma Watson Answers Burning Questions While Covered In Kittens

Emma Watson Answers Burning Questions While Covered In Kittens“Beauty and the Beast” has officially arrived in theaters. As an early celebration, Emma Watson took part in a short interview conducted through Buzzfeed with kittens. A lot of kittens. Emma answered a few fan-generated questions while covered in a bunch of tiny cats and she revealed some interesting tidbits about herself and her latest movie.

Emma admits to keeping part of Belle’s costume for herself and she explains her thoughts on the character’s life after marrying the Beast.  She also reveals how the cast celebrated the final dance scene with a giant conga line. “It was the most surreal thing I’ve ever seen—everyone in costume in the Beauty and the Beast‘ ballroom doing the conga,” she said.

While many have a hard time viewing Emma and her former “Harry Potter” cast mates as anything more than their characters from that franchise, Belle is not so different from her most famous role. “Hermione and Belle are like perfect head and heart girls—they have both,” Emma explains. “They’re super smart but they also have this incredible empathy and compassion and ability to see, kind of, beyond things and be nonjudgmental.”

No interview with Emma would be complete without a few feminist-based question. The actress recognizes that we, as a society, still have a long way to go. Many of her passions fall in the realm of social justice and, despite her strength, she has been no stranger to wanting to give up.

“When people have told me that I can’t do something, it’s going to be too hard, or whatever else, I try to use that as motivation,” she says. “Sometimes someone telling you that you won’t be able to do something, I’m like, ‘Oh, you don’t know what you just did.'”

Emma Watson Goes Femme Fatale All Over The New York Screening Of “Beauty And The Beast”

'Beauty and the Beast' - NYC ScreeningEmma Watson may be getting tired of defending her feminist credentials. That could explain why she showed up to a NYC screening of “Beauty And The Beast” looking more like an evil stepmother than a Disney princess.

Emma arrived for the film’s red carpet in a sinister floor-length black gown with some killer cut-outs. She had her darkened hair swept back with a smoldering red lip that shrieked femme fatale. The front of the gown had an aesthetic perfect for any villain trying to make a fashion statement.

Emma Watson Makes Little Girls Cry On “Good Morning America”

Celebrites On 'Good Morning America' In NYCEmma Watson stopped by “Good Morning America” on Friday for an interview about the new “Beauty and the Beast” live-action remake. Emma was spotted heading into the show’s studios amidst New York’s bad weather. But the actress/activist had a big, warm smile–even if it looked a little forced.

Emma’s interview seemed to lack her usual heart. She was excited to see a group of tiny little Belles dressed as her character from the movie. A few were even tearing up while Emma was being interviewed. Even that wasn’t enough to make the actress sound passionate as she explained why she put her own spin on the classic Disney character.

“She is a little different,” Emma said of her take on Belle. “I think that we had a little bit more space and room to tell a bit more of Belle’s story in this one. I hope she’s a slightly more modern version. She was updated a little bit. But she was pretty progressive in her DNA really. She was a bit of a rebellious ‘Disney princess,'”

That might sound like it contradicts Emma’s earlier concerns about Belle’s “Stockholm syndrome.” But she has a history of flip-flopping on feminist issues.

Ariana Grande is a shower puff in Beauty and the BeastAriana Grande looked like a glamorous shower puff in the “Beauty and the Beast” music video released on Sunday. The singer appeared in the visual for the upcoming live-action Disney film along with John Legend whose outfit was a lot more appealing to look at than Ariana’s.

While Ariana and John’s version will never come close to being as great as Celine Dion’s iconic version the two did a good job revamping the Oscar-winning song.
