This Year’s Met Gala Was Meant to Celebrate Upscale “Camp” … But Many Looks Were Just Tacky

Met Gala Feature 3The theme for last night’s Met Gala was “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” taking inspiration from a 1964 essay written by author Susan Sontag which celebrated theatrical elements of cross-dressing, outrageous accents, fun fashion exaggerations, scandalizing displays of skin, and over-the-top makeup and hair. That theme turned out to be an invitation for guests to attend in some of the most over-the-top looks ever seen at a Met Gala.

However, some of the “campy” looks this year appeared to miss the mark as ‘fun fashion exaggerations’ and veered off into the weird, tacky or just plain trashy …

As usual with a Met Gala, in attendance were a “who’s who” of entertainment, fashion and sports stars. Among this year’s group were Nick Jonas and his wife Priyanka Chopra, Joe Jonas and his newlywed wife Sophie Turner, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth, Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes and Charles Melton, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Rita Ora, Kylie Jenner, Cardi B, Nicki Minaj, and many others.

Below we have a big gallery of many of the best and worst looks of this year’s event.   Continue Reading →

“Fooled Ya:” Lady Gaga Gives Carefully Worded Non-Denial Denial to the Notion She and Bradley Cooper Are in Love

Lady Gaga Jimmy KimmelLady Gaga brought her recently-received Oscar with her when she sat down with talk show host Jimmy Kimmel last night. But the main topic for Jimmy was how much she and Bradley Cooper looked in love during their performance of their hit single “Shallow” during the Oscars broadcast … and the rumors on social media that the two had fallen in love while filming the movie, A Star Is Born.

When Jimmy said that many people watching the emotional connection that she and Bradley had during the performance concluded that “they must be in love,” Lady Gaga seemed to freeze for a minute, and finally rolled her eyes. “Okay, first of all, like, social media is the toilet of the Internet,” the pop singer responded.

But then Gaga offered a non-denial denial. “And … and … and, yes, people saw love and — guess what — that’s what we wanted you to see.”   Continue Reading →
