Xiaomi Mi TV 4 Short Review – An Infinite LED Smart TV

Xiaomi Mi TV 4 Review

A giant box, plastic locks, some huge bubble wrapping and foam protections, removing all those will unveil the Xiaomi Mi TV 4 ( 55 inch 4K HDR TV). You get two heavy and sturdy stands for the TV too.

As claimed by the company, this TV is really thin (display panel) is just 4.9mm which is incredible. On the back you’ve got connectivity ports like, AV input, optical Audio, Antenna, Ethernet jack, built-in support for 2.4 and 5 Ghz Wi-Fi. On to the right there are three HDMI ports along with two USB out of which one is USB-3.0 and underneath there is a clickable power button.

The remote is pretty minimalistic and looks dapper in matte black finish. It is simple to use with a clickable button at the center and circle around it which houses the navigation keys. Below we’ve got three dedicated buttons for Home, back and Menu/options and below them are the volume rocker.

Now coming to the USP of this TV, its display panel. This is a 16:9 aspect ratio 4K panel with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 coupled with HDR support which results in phenomenal display quality. It worth noticing that there is HDR support too and this LED panel looks great without any noticeable light bleeding or any tint.

The Frameless display makes and amazing and immersive viewing experience. For the sound Xiaomi has put in two speaker of 8 Watts, don’t be disappointed with the numbers here. The sound is awesome as it comes with Dolby Audio or DTS-HD sound technology, this sounds like there are 4 speaker with a sub-woofer.

Xiaomi has specially designed its interface called ‘Patch Wall’ which gives a wide choice of regional as well as English content and Sony Lab and Hungama comes pre-loaded. The interface is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow but customized heavily by Xiaomi.

It also lets you check your DTH program info and directly jump to your previous channel. Now as this is a Smart TV this runs on 64-bit Quad Core processor and that’s a Amlogic Cortex A53 which goes upto 1.8 GHz. Mali-T830 MP2 is handling the graphics department and to support all this there a 2GB of RAM and 8GB storage too.

Now few bonus: This TV can support and sideload apps from the Google Play store so you can play games here too. If not happy with the TV’s remote you may connect any wireless controller or keyboard or a mouse too and enjoy the same. No casting device needed here, screen mirroring will help you connect your smartphone and enjoy everything on this huge 55-inch screen.

My take on this: Looking at the competition the pricing is on point with features like 4K+HDR with Smart contents. But a 3k Fire Stick can make any TV smarter.
