Recently Microsoft removed licensing fee for Windows Phone handsets and released a new Build of Windows phone operating system with an intention to make it available for lower cost smartphones as well. This led manufacturer’s like Micromax, one of the leading Indian smartphone manufacturer, to come into an all new series of Canvas smartphone running on Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. Today Micromax sent invitations to several publishers and media for a launch event which is scheduled for June 16th with a teasing screenshot showing Live tiles like we see in Windows powered smartphones.
As we can see in the invitation above, they have indicated about a new Canvas range with Windows phone like Live tiles and have mentioned the date with time along with a Qualcomm logo at bottom right. This indicates us that the device or devices will be powered with Qualcomm processor. As of now there is no official information about how many devices Micromax is going to launch but if we believe the rumors, they will probably launch two Windows Phones within price range of Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 11,000/- Yes, this will be budget Windows Phones.
However, according to the reports Micromax is also working on an high end smartphone which will be running Windows Phone 8.1 and 2GB of RAM with Snapdragon 800 processor. This will be released probably after couple of months. But as of now, let’s wait and watch what Micromax has for us on June 16th.
