Android 5.0 Lollipop was actually unveiled back in June at the Google I/O developer conference. Since the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, the Android OS have gone through many changes and here the Android 5.0 Lollipop will give you more features as Android has always kept on upgrading with great the features. The Android 5.0 has the biggest change on the Lollipop platform is the Material Design which will impact the User Experience as well as the Visual Experience.
Let’s have a look at those devices that can run Android 5.0 Lollipop as the Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player had already made it to the Android Lollipop space.
Google has already announced that Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 will soon receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. The start of November, you will probably see the new Nexus 6 and Nexus 9.
Google Play Edition Devices:
The Google Play Edition will also receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update and those devices that has official Google Play Edition OS installed will get an update soon. As Google has not mentioned any specific device eligible for Android 5.0 Lollipop, so we can just assume that all the devices which fall under the Google Play Edition devices category will get the update. Current Google Play Edition phones are Moto G, HTC One M8 and the previous smartphones that were chosen for Google Play Edition are Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One M7, Sony Z Ultra and LG G Pad 8.3.
HTC has announced that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update will come for HTC One M8 and HTC One M7 that too within 90 days of period from the day when they will receive the final software from Google. So we can just presume that the update for these two smartphones will definitely arrive by February or it is also possible that it would come earlier than that. HTC will also update the One series smartphones and also other devices but that could take some time.
Samsung has not yet announced their planning about the update release for their smartphone line up. Again we can just choose some of the great spec phone here which are the Samsung Galaxy S4 and Note 3. But still the question remains, when? Samsung has been always stayed behind in terms of providing the updates.
Motorola has also announced about the Android 5.0 Lollipop update, that their smartphones will receive the update soon later this year. Motorola has selected the many of their smartphones like the Moto G 1st and 2nd Gen, Moto G 4G LTE, Moto X 1st and 2nd Gen, Moto E, Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx and Droid Mini.
